Miami (PortMiami): Skip the taxi line. The free Metromover runs close to the port and an Uber from MIA airport is usually $15-20. Way cheaper than the $40+ taxis try to charge.
Fort Lauderdale: If you're arriving the day before, stay at a hotel with a park-and-cruise deal. We used the Hyatt Place and it was $120 including 7 nights of parking.
